Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Most people have a comfort zone. For the average person, it’s a little different. Perhaps you like being in the back, doing work where no one will take notice, perhaps you like being on stage where everyone sees you, where the collective power from a hundred eyes sets adrenaline deep within you flowing. For some, talking to strangers is out of their comfort zone, for others having friends is. Some people don’t like sports, others feel most comfortable in competition, some are uncomfortable holding a pen or pencil, for others that is the safest place on earth.
At this point in my life, I felt most comfortable in understanding. Comfort, however, is something one has to give up in order to grow.. Trusting God means that we don’t always understand. Not understanding can make things more difficult, taking a leap is one thing, if you know where you’re landing and that you can make it. A leap of faith, however, is usually taken blindly. That verse up there, I’ve had it memorized for as long as I can recall, it’s been a part of my life.. But the true meaning of it is at last sinking in. Perhaps the bravest part of Joshua leading Israel to march around the walls of Jericho was facing the fear that Israel would not follow him. Looking foolish in front of one’s enemy is one thing, but those you care for, that’s a completely different story.
Decisions we make affect those around us, there’s nothing we can do to change this fact. Some of them in a seemingly negative way, and personally, seeing things like this breaks my heart, someone in any pain over a decision *I* made. But the truth is, God knows best, He will work out everything. He will lead us, when we do not understand and trusting Him in those moments, those moments in which you do not understand, there’s a beauty about it, a sense of awe and wonder. No matter how confusing things are, I know He will work them out because my life is in His hands completely.
Not understanding is hard, regardless of the wonder you experience in trusting God. Many will question what you’re doing because it doesn’t make sense, you may even be tempted to turn around, take it back. Taking a stand is not as simple as it looks, but trusting God’s lead, if you are immersed in Him is always worth it.
Psalm 25:4-5 Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.
I want to learn to thrive in the unknown, in His unknown, for He knows everything. It takes faith, but it is surely worth it, His way is the best way for certain, what have we to lose in following Him? Anything put against us, He has already overcome for us. He will guide us always, it is our choice to listen or not. I encourage all of you now to listen, and listen well, not only to listen, but to follow Him. Sometimes we eventually come to understanding, others we may never begin to grasp. Like your smile can make a strangers day, so every decision we make affects someone, perhaps many people, more than you could imagine.
Oftentimes we are asked to do difficult things, perhaps that we think the outcome of them would turn out bad, but the wonderful thing is, He knows better. So long as we follow Him completely, disregarding what we want, what we think, what we feel, His will is best and as a dear friend told me, it couldn’t possibly go wrong.
