It’s like a poison slowly trying to get to me every way possible. No matter which way I go, it’s a wrong turn. Lights going off in every direction, I’m wandering in the dark in a new territory full of land mines. One wrong step and everything blows up, but how can one know which step to take when walking blind?
A flash, maybe a gunshot or strike of lightning, either one is enough to slightly illuminate the battle field around me. The darkness revealed is unnerving, but it’s nice to know what we’re up against. They’re fighting hard, coming from every direction. Only one name will stop them, one name will release us. Scream with me, scream His name throughout the earth, end this darkness, send them out. I must admit, there’s something about darkness that feels comfortable, powerful, but it’s all a lie. It consumes one, it convinces one to let it in, as soon as it finds a way in, it begins to tear one apart from the very inside. As you scream with me the name above all names, they seem to vanish. But don’t be fooled, they’re not gone yet.
You’ve succeeded in ticking off the enemy. You’re stronger now, things are going straight and all of a sudden you find yourself back in that minefield. Except this time, the lights are on, and you’re not the only one under attack. You aren’t the only one who’s grown stronger. You stand there, your sword in hand, ready to fight and all of a sudden you hear cries from your battle mates. Everyone you love is there with you, not necessarily to help, but they need yours. These things are old news to you, you run through them fighting of hundreds with ease but the ones you love are blind to their surroundings still.
There has to be a way in, this isn’t over yet. You run to their aid realizing your only way out of this is to band together with the most powerful name of all and fight these things as one. You realize the only way to defeat them is as one, you begin to build a fortress, but if any have motives other than helping those in the fort with them, they show a weakness and the enemy finds a leak. Fighting off these things must come first, how to fight them, I don’t know yet, but I know we’l figure it out.
Live long and prosper, Tori Lynn.
